At the Bronze Art Workshop, we believe that good work begins with understanding the material, the process, the artist and the history of the object in front of us.

Founded by Isla, the workshop brings together a passion for bronze, traditional craftsmanship and a deep respect for the work of artists and the objects entrusted to us. Whether helping an artist realise a new idea or caring for a historic bronze, we take the time to understand what is needed and why.

For artists, our aim is to create an environment where they can thrive. From the first wax through to casting, chasing and finishing, we work alongside artists to help turn their ideas into finished bronze. We understand that the foundry process can be daunting, particularly when a work is being cast for the first time, so we offer practical knowledge, honest advice and hands-on support throughout.
The artist’s vision remains at the heart of the process. Our role is to provide the knowledge, craftsmanship and support that allows that vision to become a reality.

Every metal object tells a story. Its surface, patina, marks and changes over time can be part of its history and character. Conservation should not be about making an old object look new. It should be about understanding what is there, identifying what genuinely needs attention, and intervening only when there is a clear and considered reason to do so.

Historic and culturally significant objects deserve patience, knowledge and respect. Before anything is changed, we consider the material, the object’s history, its condition and its future. Where intervention is necessary, we aim for work that is thoughtful, sympathetic and as minimal as possible.
Conservation is not about changing an object to suit us. It is about caring for it so that its history can continue.
